Whacky Christmas Trees and a Touch of Kindness
Posted on 21st December 2011
It’s pretty exciting at Monster HQ right now. We’ve been working hard to get all orders out the same day and have had some amazing feedback. We love to hear from you and it makes everything we do seem more worthwhile.

The BIG day and time off with our families and friends is approaching rapidly and we’re getting as excited as a bunch of kids on E numbers.

In the name of research we’ve been checking out unusual Christmas trees online (as you do in work time). We found a bundle that we’d like to share with you. Some, we’re not sure of the original source, but where possible the creators have been credited.

The girls’ fave was the solid gold tree (yeah, you didn’t mis-read – GOLD). Then we spotted one decorated in diamonds and it got us all confused. Whichever way, if we had one of these we feel our lives would be complete. Not that we’re a shallow bunch or anything, we just feel it’s embedded in female DNA to be mesmerised by sparkley stuff. And fluffy stuff. Like our slippers. Natch.

We love the ones made of recycled bits like bottles and tins and wish we’d thought of it first. As everyone knows by checking out our slippers, we are not followers: we like to try new designs and new ideas and definitely get there first.

On the subject of Christmas trees, however, we are absolutely and unashamedly going to nick some ideas. So next year our tree will be made of slippers (not sure how, but we have a while to work it out). We definitely like the idea of a fluffy tree, but it will still have to have some sparkley bits, whatever the male Monster members think (they want to keep it “pure”. Pah!)

Any ideas, feel free to let us know.

GOLD tree. Yum! I want one.

A shrine to Grolsch  www.unboundedition.com. The boys want to do the prelim work on this project.

OK. We're not loving this tree because we want one, but we do love, love love "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and anything else by Dr Seuss. Just makes us smile and want to recite "Green Eggs and Ham".

This monster is made from 7 tiers of regular trees (350 in total). Yilong Media Company allocated 70 staff to construct a steel frame then stack the trees. Only in China.

Saving the best (sparkley bits) to last ... this was made by Singapore jeweller, Soo Kee, using 21,798 diamonds which totalled a whopping 913 carats. If that's not enough he added 3,762 crystals. We don't care what it's worth (millions allegedly) we're all sparkled up.

And finally … at Monster HQ we’re lucky to have an amazing team that works well together whilst still having many daily doses of giggles with a bit of mick taking thrown in. Head Honcho reckons it’s purely down to his management skills, so we’ll give him one on that. You do have to have a good kind-hearted and funny bunch to start with though. And on that note (we’re getting good at this segue business) here’s a link to a YouTube vid showing how kindness really does make the world go round.

Just find a few minutes to watch this. It’ll fill you with good, kind, festive thoughts and even make your mouth turn upwards in the shape of a smile.

The Main Man has said we can skip off at midday on Friday, hence the posting today.

So on that note, it’s time for a cuppa and a well-deserved piece of Christmas cake.

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and may you have plenty of reasons to laugh in 2012.

With love and festive hugs.

The Monster Slippers Team xx

PS Joe (our customer services ace) is dressed as an elf today, but he won’t let us post his pic here. Spoilsport! ;op

huggability
Posted on 2nd December 2011

We love our work. Monster HQ has to be the happiest place to be and we actually get paid for what we do. We get to post our idle banter on Twitter and Facebook, we chat about anything and everything on this blog and we even do drawing and stuff under the guise of creating new designs.

Plus, of course, we take the mick (big time) out of our apprentices.

Our warehouse team is busy, busy, busy … Christmas slipper orders coming out of our ears and that’s just the way we like it. We (they) work really hard to get every order out the same day, whilst we’re sitting in our nice offices finalising designs for next years new additions.

We’ll be adding a panda, a red squirrel, a seal, an owl, a lion and … some amazing limited edition slippers that I’m not allowed to tell you about yet.

Let us know what you think.

More to come, but our factory is still working on them,

The more animal styles we have, the more charities we’ll support. Our slippers are all about  fun, huggability and giving something back.

Scarlett the sheep  and DippyDooDah the cat are the softest things since ... Mr Cuddles. They're like comfort blankets for your paws.

We realise that a little something soft and fluffy can bring a ray of fabness to your day. Just pop them on as you clamber out of bed and your smile will be like sunshine all day.

We've travelled the world with our softometer in search of perfection for your feet. And this year we've finally found it. Our Slipperology Scientists have been working night and day to create the squishiest slippers this planet has ever seen.

PLEASE NOTE: No animals - real or otherwise - were harmed in this process, though most were stroked pretty much to death.

And we're so-o-o-o excited about soft stuff that we've introduced a monthly competition. You send us a photo of the softest thing you can find (a bubba kitten - aaaah, or ... well it's up to you to find them). Just email us a photo and tell us what or who it is. The one we deem the most squishy each month will win a pair of slippers of your choice.

That's all for now.

Don't forget to let us know what you think of our slippers (current and new designs).

See you next week.

Love and hugs from all at Monster HQ. xx

Amazing people
Posted on 28th November 2011

First and foremost, what an amazing lot you are!

You might have noticed we’ve been banging on for ages about our giant slipper.

In case you’ve been on planet Zog or maybe didn’t know about us until this week (sad face), the slipper was up for auction for BBC Children in Need.

There were plenty of bids, which just goes to show that the world is mainly full of lovely people. And, the winning bid was from one of our existing customers. We love, love love all our customers (as you know, because we look after you and give you good stuff). However, this particular person, I’m sure you’ll agree, must be our customer of the month (if not year). He knew he had to pay for delivery too and he lives in Borneo! What an absolute star! We haven't even mentioned that he paid a whopping £1500 for the slipper ... all going to CiN.

We love you!

As does Pudsey.

Talking about people we love. Did you see JR Martinez on Dancing with the Stars? He really is a true star: when he walks into a room the place lights up. He’s an incredible motivational speaker too.

Now you know that one of the charities we support with our very own Mr Cuddles is Changing Faces? Well, we feel we’ve learnt a little of what it means to be disfugured. Of course, we couldn’t possibly imagine, but we have absorbed loads of information and guidance from the Changing Faces team and you can get more info from their website. It’s helped raise our awareness of the many and complex issues surrounding disfigurement, so to see JR being such an incredible person makes us feel quite humble and happy inside.

And he makes us want to dance.

Before we get too serious, we'd better tell you our Christmas slippers are flying off the shelves. So, if you want to get some fab gifts for the amazing people in you life (see what we did there?) you'd better get in quick. For each pair of our charity slippers you buy, we donate a large percentage to our chosen charities. You can see the full details for each style here. That should make for a lovely Christmas for everyone ... you buy fab gifts, your friends and family receive said fab gifts and our wonderful charities get paid too. It's like giving two presents for the price of one. What's not to like?

On that happy note, it's time for a nice cuppa before Mr Postie comes to collect our third lot of packages today.

See you next week.

With love and big hugs from all at Monster HQ. xx

Why is abbreviation such a long word? And other random thoughts.
Posted on 17th November 2011

Our brains have filled with random thoughts this week.

To give you a taste of what it’s like working at monster HQ, here are a few of them.

• Why is abbreviation such a long word?
• And why do adults use the word “toxic” and kids say “poisonous”? Shouldn’t kids have the shorter word? It’d be much easier to spell.
• What is Pi and where does it come from anyway? (We heard that one on the telly, but we do actually feel we should have concentrated on maths a bit more at school).
• Ever wonder how much of your brain is taken up by song lyrics?
• And how come you can remember words to songs you last heard when you were ten?
• Do you think the freezer deserves a light too?
• Wahahahahahahahahahaha!
• Where did that come from?
• Will someone please invent a sarcasm font?
• Is the happiest coffee of all called a cappuchinohohohohohoho?

OK, it’s getting out of hand now. The long slippery slope … (see what we did there – getting good at this segue lark).

We have a few pics of animals wearing their favourite slippers. No, we didn’t actually manhandle any living creatures. Duh!

OK, we don't often have disagreement in Monster HQ, but we're definitely split on this one … half of us think they’re cute and the other half thinks their weird. Oh well, can’t please everyone eh?

He-who-must-be-obeyed thinks they are distinctly naff, but he’s letting us post them anyway. So, here goes ...

On that note, we should sign off before our offerings become even more paw (sorry).

Love and huge furry hugs.

From all at monster HQ xx

11.11.11 and handerpants
Posted on 11th November 2011

Good morning Peeps

There are two things on our minds today (apart from that long-awaited cup of tea and the baklava that are, amazingly, still sitting in the kitchen) …

It’s 11/11/11 and for once it’s been silent at Monster HQ. We are all in awe at the amazing courage and dedication our forces display and our thoughts are with the families of those that have given their lives so we can live ours in freedom and safety
.

We had a request recently from some guys serving in Afghanistan for some slippers and we were delighted to send them. We are truly humbled by what these people do for us.

On a lighter note (and nothing to do with forces or feet), we found this as we were working hard (as you do) and wanted to share it.

We actually have a lady here who is so tiny that we reckon they’d fit her as real pants (not that she has five legs … now that would be weird).

And finally (yes, we know that’s three things, but we always like to give more than you expect) here’s our very own Guy the Gorilla dressed up as ET. We reckon he’s cute.

Ooh! One more thing … we just heard that Stephen Fry is holding a reverse spellathon. Oh. My. Giddy. Aunt … we couldn’t compete with him on a forwards spellathon. We often have to look up things he says as we don’t even know what they mean, let alone how to spell them. Good luck to anyone that rises to that challenge.

That's all for today folks. Time for tea and baklava … yum, yumetty yum!

With love and hugs to you all and extra HUGE ones for our forces and their families.

See you next week.

Those that don’t doodle, don’tle …
Posted on 4th November 2011

Good morning Peeps

As you read on, you’ll realise that the title bears no resemblance to the content this week, but we do like random words and phrases. So, don't doodle and don't don'tle ... DO get involved with what's going on here ...

This week is charity week. OK, at Monster HQ every week is charity week.

As you probably know, we’ve had a bit of flack about our giant slipper, with some posts online suggesting we digitally enlarged a normal Monster Claw. To prove the humungous thing exists in more than just our minds, we’ve been out and about with it on our car (well, the boss’ car actually, as mine is too small and has a dirty great scratch down the side). There’s the added thing of the slipper hanging over the front windscreen, a bit like Justin Bieber’s old haircut.

So, now everyone knows it’s a true and actual happening thing in the real world and not just in our computers, we’re giving it to Children in Need to auction.

What we’d really like is for loads of very rich (and maybe famous) people to bid ginormous amounts for what might prove to be the biggest slipper in the world. We’re still waiting for the Guinness Book of World Records to finish checking it out, but it’s looking good.

We got to wondering what Pudsey would make of our Monster Claws, so we gave him a digital pair. Here he is …

And talking of totally real and not at all enhanced pictures, here’s our very own Dudley Dog posing as Mr T.

Since we’ve been on the charity subject, here are some of our other slippers that give every day to really amazing charities. Click on them to read all about it …

Now we’re feeling a bit warm and fuzzy from being such incredibly generous people we’re off for a well-deserved chat.

Love and hugs.

See you next week.

Word of the Week ... Axalotl
Posted on 27th October 2011

Good afternoon Peeps!

Busy, busy week!

Our giant slipper has been out and about in London. Our team has been giving out free-Monster-Claw-bies, discount vouchers and all sort of lovely things.

We don’t have another (non) competition this week, but we do have one more of our slippers made up to resemble a famous face.

Our gorgeous Beatrice Bunny posing as the even more delectable Audrey Hepburn. It’s one of our faves (along with The Queen – see blog below or follow this link to Flickr or this one to our Facebook page).

And talking of our cat posing as The Queen, this weeks random phrase at Monster HQ is “To err is human, to purr is cat.” What? We said it was random!

Our random word of the week is Axalotl.

Here’s a picture for those of you that don’t know what an Axalotl is. Our very own Mr Cuddles has made himself look like one using a pair of gloves belonging to our designer. Well we think he's cute!

Now, some might say we don’t have enough to do, but this is a crucial part of our creative process. It usually involves doodles, idle banter and chocolate.

Talking of which, tummies are rumbling and it’s lunchtime.

See you next week.

Love and big hugs

The Monster Team. xxx

Feet and Faces
Posted on 21st October 2011

Friday, Friday, Friday ... we can't decide whether to fiddle about, drink tea or eat more chocolate. Maybe all three? That's what you call multi-tasking.

Seriously, we're a talented lot here at Monster HQ: we can do all that and write a blog.

Last time we promised you the answers to our super-duper, amazing and ever-so-cheap-with-no-prizes foot competition. So here they are.

The feet belonged to (or should that be "belong to", as technically they probably still own them) ...

1. Statue of Liberty

2. The very lovely and delicious Fearne Cotton

3. Achilles

4. Nicole Richie

5. Susan Boyle

6. Oprah Winfrey

7. Victoria Beckham

8. Paris Hilton

How many did you get? We got them ALL RIGHT! OK, so we chose them in the first place, but that's hardly the point is it?

We also promised you that we'd post a couple more of our slippers made to look like famous people.

Today you get Gene Simmons and Amy Winehouse for your delectation:

Oh. My. Absolute. God! He-who-must-be-obeyed has just made us a cup of tea! We need to sit down and sip it slowly ... savour every bit and put a note on the calendar.

On that bombshell, we're off to hit the biscuit tin.

See you next week. xx
